Malta School of Drama & Dance launches Movember initiative

The Malta School of Drama and Dance within the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College in collaboration with Nestle’ Malta and St Honore Gozo, has launched an initiative in aid of Hospice Malta as part of the Movember awareness campaign.

During the month of November, the school will be selling surgical masks with a moustache with all proceeds going to Hospice Malta. The initiative developed from an idea conceived by drama teacher Aaron Fenech.

Alan Fenech, the Head of School, stated: “The current situation has made us change and adapt but one thing that shouldn’t change is our awareness of the hardships faced by some people, especially those going through difficult health issues. While we hope a cure for COVID-19 will soon be available, cancer is a battle many families are having to fight day in day out. We would like to do our fair share in raising awareness during the month of November.

Nestle’ Malta Ltd has decided to collaborate in this initiative by purchasing 200 of these masks. “At Nestle’ our values are rooted in respect and therefore we believe in giving back to the community and this is why we felt we should join this initiative. Together with the Malta School of Drama and Dance we will be helping those persons in need. Thanks to all who would like to give a contribution towards this good cause.” said Human Resources Specialist, Leanne Psaila.

Victor Galea, Head of College Network of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli college stated he is always very happy when schools within the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College such as the MSDD take initiatives not only for their own visibility and that of the college but also to raise awareness with initiatives such as this while also building relationships with industrial shareholders such as Nestle’.

All those who would like to contribute to this initiative can do so by purchasing a mask for the price of 2 Euro from the school reception or by donating to the cause. Masks can be ordered via email on mavc.schoolofdrama@ilearn.edu.mt or by calling on 25983740.
