Gozitan Students’ Nativity-themed Artwork

The Gozo Culture Unit within the Ministry for Gozo organised an art competition for students between 5 and 12 years of age. Along the month of November, art students at the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College Gozo Visual and Performing Art School in Xewkija produced a variety of artwork related to the Nativity. This task was integrated within the Learning Outcomes of the courses offered at this school.

All artwork will be displayed in Independence Square Victoria
from the coming days. Four of the artworks chosen by an external independent jury, will be sent to Gozitan households as part of this year’s Christmas Postcards.

The School Administrator Vincent Caruana observed the high level of work done. “We believe our school shall be a lively, thriving and dynamic centre of creativity and initiatives such as this one are good platforms for our young students to express their talent and imagination and introduce their artwork to larger audiences
.” said Mr Vincent Caruana.

Head of MAV College Network Victor Galea
praised the School for working closely with the Culture Office in Gozo to create platforms for our students to perform and exhibit outcomes of their studies. While thanking the Culture Office, Mr Galea said that “Through such collaboration, the visibility of the Gozo VPA School with the general public is continually increasing. It is hoped that through such initiatives, the public may be further attracted to the expressive arts and becoming aware of the many opportunities this school in Xewkija has to offer, not only in arts but in Music, Dance and Drama as well.
