A librettist is the person who writes the words for a musical work for the theatre.
LIBRETTIST
Ġorġ Peresso is an acclaimed author, poet and broadcaster, and also one of Malta’s most veteran authors. He wrote the libretto for Blat – The Island Fortress together with Amy Borg.
As the librettists, Peresso and Borg created the libretto for the Opera-Film, including the dramatic structure, story, scripted dialogues and an outline of the characters. The libretto was then passed on to Mikiel Anton Vassalli College for the Screenwriter Alan Fenech to adapt it for film. Also the libretto for the first opera of the platform City of Humanity, Swar (Behind the Fortifications), was written by Peresso.
