A talk linking art and spirituality was presented at the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College – Malta School of Art by veteran artist and alumni Anthony Spagnol last Friday, 17th December. Spagnol highlighted the difference between sacred and spiritual art, focusing his argument on the concept that spirituality entails honesty of emotions and intentionality of ideas.
Mr Victor Galea, head of College Network introduced the evening on behalf of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College whilst Dr Christian Attard, Art Appreciation tutor at the school, introduced the subject and the speaker.
The talk was followed by a conversation with Malta School of Art Student Pietru Farrugia, exploring the importance of meditation during the creative process, the concept of suffering during creation and the spiritual dimensions of restoration amongst others.
The online talk was followed by a considerable number of students and guests, who had also the opportunity to ask question directly to the artist.
