“A College for the Arts” presented to Arts Council Malta
Arts Council Malta Chairman Albert Marshall and Funding & Strategy Director Mary Ann Cauchi met Victor Galea the Head of College Network Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, for the presentation of the book ‘A College for the Arts’.
Established in 2018, the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College brings in one cluster the schools of arts, music, drama and dance in Malta and Gozo. These schools focus on the quality of teaching and learning in the visual and performing arts and are probably the oldest form of state organised visual and performing arts education on our islands and hence an important part of both our rich intangible and tangible Heritage.
“This book bears witness to a legacy in art education, which we intend to strengthen and enhance to be of service to society by providing the most appropriate teaching and learning environments’’ said Mr Galea. He added that “ Named after an enlightened Maltese reformer of the 18th century, Mikiel Anton Vassalli advocated a wide social reform based on a broad educational system centred upon the concept of Maltese cultural identity.”
Both the Head of College and the ACM Officials augur the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College to continue working towards improving the visual and performing arts education in Malta and Gozo.
