A Donation of Long plays and Art Books towards Mikiel Anton Vassalli College

Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, has recently been donated around 700 Long Plays. These consist of various Operas, opera pieces and Classical and relaxing Music composed by a long list of composers amongst whom Giuseppe Verdi, Wolfang Amadeus Mozart, Donizetti Wagner, Johann Sebastian Bach, Beethoven, Richard Wagner and others. 

“It is worth noting that these long plays were recorded in well known theatres on an international level such as La Scala of Milan, London Symphony Orchestra,  Symphonic Orchestra and the Turin Choir belonging to the Italian Radio-television, the Beethoven Halle Orchestra in  Bonn and the San Carlo Theatre in Naples” explained his excellency Richard Lapira ex-retired ambassador of various countries. 



To complement this donation Mr lapira donated also two turntables on which one can enjoy the beauty of the immortal music to the benefit of all those who listen to it. 


“This is a generous donation from His excellency Mr Richard Lapira and his wifeMrs Rose Lapira” said the Head of The College Network Mr. Victor Galea. “All these Long Plays are being listed so thet they will then be at the dispostion to students taking Music especially those following classical voice.” 


Mr Lapira was born on the 20th April 1933 and after receiving his education at The Saint Aloisious College he served as a civil servant from 1950. Between 1997-81 he served as a Cosul in London. In 1997 he became the Ambassodor of The Republic of China where he served till 1999 when he was appointed as the German Ambassador. From Bonn he was accredited as the Ambassodor for Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungry.


Mr Lapira has a passion towards Operistic and Classic Music and it was his wish that his vast collection will serve as a scope from which educators and students attending the Music Schools within The Mikiel Anton Vassalli College can benefit”.



On her part Mrs Lapira who has a passion for Art and all that is artistic, donated a collection of 132 books to the Malta School of Arts within The Mikiel Anton Vassalli College Malta. Teachers and students will benefit from this donation.
