A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (MAVC) and the Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA). The MoU specifically focuses on encouraging and fostering a collaborative spirit between the Malta School of Art and the Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School, both forming part of the MAV college and the Valletta Design Cluster within the VCA.
This MOU aims to support a closer synergy between art education and the creative industry in Malta by providing further opportunities and access for young learners to learn through practice-based approaches and promote a continuity from their early years of art education to the professional dimension of creativity.
“This agreement will give the opportunity to Art students attending MAV College schools and VDC members and communities of practice to have access to space and facilities offered by both entities, so as to support the creative and professional development of each member, whether still a student or an established practitioner,” said Head of College Network Victor Galea.
The CEO of the Valletta Cultural Agency Catherine Tabone explained that “This MoU will further enable the development and strengthening of a community-centred programme, also making it easier to collaborate on joint projects and initiatives that reflect the aims and values of both the College and the Valletta Design Cluster.”
The premises of the Malta School of Art and the Valletta Design Cluster neighbour each other, with both premises having undergone an intensive process of restoration and renovation during the past years.
The MoU was signed by Ms Catherine Tabone, Chief Executive Officer of the Valletta Cultural Agency and Mr Victor Galea, Head of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College Network.
