The last three months have been, different … strange … unusual and from a school-as-we-know-it perspective … out of all schemes. Yet presented with the challenge of a sudden shift of what we got used to see as a normal scholastic year, we needed to react, reorganise and keep going and so we did.
The lockdown, the pandemic, the closure of the school. Life was reaching a standstill, but arts and education were not going to stop so easily.
It was an unprecedented situation, unforeseeable, yet there was a will to continue, to beat the odds , to overcome the difficulties and keep going, no matter what. It was time to reorganise.
Following the consultation with the head of College, Victor Galea, and following the instructions given by the Ministry of Education, Head of School Mr. Vincent Caruana briefed the teachers that it was time to find new ways to teach, to embrace new technologies and use the creativity he knew all teachers had in abundance.
The response was just as he expected and only a few days later, lessons were already back on track. Teachers and school staff were contacting students and parents and re-scheduling tuition, lessons, classes, consultations and homework through online resources. It took a short moment and soon things where not simply working, it was a success.
At the end of term, VPA Head of School Mr. Caruana was pleased to thank all school’s employees “I would like to THANK all teachers and staff for the great effort and sterling work before and during the Covid 19 situation. We were faced with a challenge but we were brave enough to overcome it successfully. “
