International Course on Arts Education – Opportunities for inclusion

An international Course resulting from a partnership between Eekhout Academy and the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College is currently being delivered at the Malta School of Art. The theme for the course is ‘Arts Education – Opportunities for Inclusion‘.

Guest speakers include Ms Luisa Brexo, (M Arts and M Special Needs) who will be delivering focused lectures on the subject throughout the week together with Mr Wim Simoens, Eekhout Academy Director who will be also giving workshops.  Mr Victor Galea, Head of College Network introduced the programme and gave an interesting introduction to the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College and the Maltese islands and Education in Malta to the numerous foreign participants. The course is also being followed by the school’s Art teachers.

A keynote speech by Dr Josanne Ghirxi (Director National School Support Services) was followed by a panel discussing the topic led by Mr Umberto Buttigieg. The panel was composed of Ms Miriam Teuma (CEO National Youth Agency) and Ms Darlene Borg (Head of Resource Centre).

The one week course will also feature visits to the Marchese di Villabianca and the Malta School of Music together with visits to interesting cultural places and ongoing exhibitions in Valletta including Zigu Zajg 2023; ‘Exploring Travel Bug‘.
