Malta School of Art Embarks on an E Twinning Project

In February 2019, the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College – Malta, entered into a partnership with the Universitat De Barcelona – Spain, to paticipate in the EnlargeSEAS project co-financed by the European Union Erasmus+ Programme. School Management Team members from the schools within the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, including the Centre Administrator of the Malta School of Art, attended training provided as part of this project.
Now, as part of this Erasmus+ project, the MAVC- Malta School of Art is partnering with I.E.S. Alfonso II School in Oviedo – Spain, for an E-Twinning Project. The aim of the partnership is to learn from the experiences of the Spanish School and implement the Successful Educational Action: Dialogic Art Gathering at the Malta School of Art.

The Dialogic Art Gatherings involve the collective construction of meaning and knowledge based on dialogue with the whole student body or people participating at the gatherings. Through dialogic gatherings there is direct contact with timeless and cross-cultural masterpieces which humanity has accumulated over the centuries. This contact is fostered in the gatherings and available to all, regardless of age, gender, culture or ability.
The plan is to create Art Gatherings that employ conversation or shared dialogue to explore the meaning of internationally acclaimed works of art amongst students ages 12 to 15 attending both schools.
The first stage of the project took place on Monday 29th March 2021 as staff members and educators from the Malta School of Art attended an online training session by CREA (Community of Research on Excellence for All), and the IES Alfonso II, partner in the eTwinning project. The workshop focused on transferring the knowledge of the Scientific Base of the Dialogic Art Gatherings.
