ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
In her role as Assistant Director, Michelle Zerafa worked on characterisation with the cast and dancers, she led workshops to assist them in building their character according to the screenplay and in line with the director’s vision. Michelle also assisted the cast and director on set during the shooting.
Michelle’s experience and training in performing arts started since an early age. She started her career in extensive dance training which led her in creating choreography works both in dance shows, musicals and also in contemporary theatre productions. Her training in drama led her to play various roles in theatre and also on screen, winning various awards for her characters’ interpretations. She obtained a Certificate in Performance Arts, winning the exhibition award for the highest mark in Europe, as well as the ATCL Performing Diploma in Speech and Drama, both from Trinity College (London) with a Distinction.
Michelle is a co-founder and co-producer of Vermiglio Theatre Productions, therefore her experience in staging various productions is vast. Michelle worked with adolescents for a number of years in the education psychosocial sector, she currently carries duties at the Malta Visual and Performing Arts School. Michelle is also a warranted counsellor and manages her own clientele – The Path I Choose Counselling Services, she is an emotional intelligence lecturer. Michelle has researched (University of Malta, 2016) and worked with drama in therapy, and as a drama specialist she co-created various performances through self-expression of negative feelings and oppressive situations with various vulnerable groups.
