SEAMSTRESS
Sarah Portelli, known as is-Sinjurina, is a Maltese artist/designer. For ‘Blat’ she tailored the costumes worn by the character of Madeline, following period accurate construction techniques, as well as assisting Sarah Grech with coordinating costumes for both the main cast as well as background actors during filming.
Is-Sinjurina has held a fascination for the mundane from a young age. For the past few years she has been creating both artworks and clothing using an array of non-traditional materials ranging from reclaimed textiles to pastizzi bags. In 2020 she directed her debut short film ʻHephaestiaʼ shot in collaboration with Alamango Films. In 2021 she debuted her first solo exhibition entitled ʻByronic Heroinʼ which opened to critical acclaim. She has lived in Rome and Barcelona. After spending a year studying Atelier Design at the Polimoda di Firenze, she now splits her time between Malta and Italy working on film, sustainable fashion and an array of other projects.
