History of Art graduate from University of Malta and acquiring a masters degree in Fine Arts from the University of Brighton, Mr Umberto Buttigieg is the newly appointed Head of the Malta School of Art (Valletta) within Mikiel Anton Vassalli College. Besides, Mr Buttigieg is currently reading for another masters degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy, focusing on therapeutic aesthetics and art as a healing modality.
Mr Buttigieg has exhibited in numerous collective and collaborative exhibitions both locally and abroad, including London, Brighton, Brussels and Nicosia. He has also curated numerous artistic projects and events, including exhibitions as part of the VIVA and ZiguZajg Festivals organized by Spazju Kreattiv. He is also a founding member of the Gabriel Caruana Foundation, which strives to raise awareness, appreciation and participation in modern and contemporary art.
From 2017 to 2020, Buttigieg worked as Communications Officer for the President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society. In this capacity he helped to facilitate an number of conferences, seminars and workshops, highlighting the importance of creative wellbeing.
