“In just a few days our lives were turned upside down in the blink of an eye. The world as we know it changed. But, even during this troublesome time, music still has its own way of bringing us together.” (Shevaun Rooney, 14 yrs, Voice student).
Between mid-March and end of June, lessons at the MAVC School of Music took on a completely different form. Teachers and students, with the help of their parents, guardians or older siblings, very quickly adapted to the new world of online teaching. Students had live instrumental lessons, or sent recordings to their teachers and received weekly feedback on their progress. Together they embraced every challenge and continued striving forward, learning and developing in the best way possible given the circumstances.
Class Concerts brought teachers, students and their relatives together. Many teachers organized private online live concerts, through groups on social media platforms. Some prepared a video bringing together individual performances. In all cases, the students’ enthusiasm and engagement shined through.
Hearty congratulations to each and every one of the students who participated in these concerts, and a huge thank you to the dedicated teachers and accompanists who made it possible for our students to perform with and for each other, even during these difficult times.
