Piano for Kids Recital

It is easy to get the impression that classical music is something that children first have to “grow into” in order to understand. Yet there are a large number of masterly compositions that were written especially for children, that do not require explanations and have no pedagogical purpose.

On Friday 4th of November 2022, the MAVC Gozo Visual & Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Gozo Ministry and the German Embassy in Malta, presented “Piano for Kids” by Ms. Corinna Simon a Piano Recital specifically designed specifically for children.

German pianist, Corinna Simon performed an international programme of three centuries of piano masterpieces written for children giving a short explanation of the pieces being performed before each performance.

The event, held in the Exhibition Hall of the Gozo Ministry was attended by many young, music students of the MAVC Gozo Visual & Performing Arts School, their parents and other members of the public.

Ms. Corinna Simon, a classically trained pianist has worked with renowned conductors such as Jakov Kreizberg, Marc Piollet, Walter Weller, Lior Shambadal, Christóbal Halffter, Lukas Karytinos and Hans Werner Henze.

In recent years, she has received the highest acclaim from the international press for her recordings. These include albums with works by Reinhold Moritzewitsch Glière, Jean Françaix, George Gershwin,Witold Lutosławski and her “L’Album des Six” with piano works by French composers, released by Sony Classical.

Her album “Klavier für Kinder” with masterpieces by great composers for children was nominated for the German music prize “OPUS KLASSIK” in 2020.
