Hal Safi, with the aim of popularising art in the locality.
The youths has the opportunity to interact with the community through art and culture. The event was organised in collaboration with the Hal Safi Local Council and hosted by the Mayor, John Mula and local Councillor Joanna Abdilla.
The ‘Art within the Community’ event was organised as part of European Programme Europe for Citizens EASYTOWNS 2, which the College is in partnership with together with other eleven European cities.
In July, the village of Gharb was the location for a similar event, when students and educators from the College in Gozo, held interactive art sessions, among other initiatives.
The College said that the aim is to “popularise the visual and performing arts within our communities and to give more opportunities especially to young people to interact with the community while performing in public.”
This goes in line with the mission of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, who was represented by two educators from the Malta School of Art – Ms. Leanne Lewis and Ms. Kamy Aquilina.
The Mayor thanked the two Event Officers from the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, Mr Cefai Mercieca and Mr Casha who, he said, are keeping the links between his locality and the Educational Institution.
He also thanked the Parish for its collaboration to host the young artists and Mr Alexis Callus, a local resident for his interest in helping in the logistics.
Mr John Mula concluded by showing his interest to host other performers from the other specialised schools particularly the Malta School of Drama and Dance and The Malta School of Music.
The Mikiel Anton Vassalli College is a network of the Specialised Schools of Art, Drama, Dance and Music in Gozo and Malta.
