The collaboration between the Malta College for the Arts and the National Youth Agency hailed in Belgium.

Mikiel Anton Vassalli College included Aġenija Żgħażagħ to attend the final event of the European Accessible Sustainable Young (EASY)Towns II – a mobility project funded by the European Programme “Europe for Citizens.”

The Mikiel Anton Vassalli (MAV) College was represented by the Head of College Network Victor Galea and Dr Reuben Pace teacher/composer assigned to this College, Classical Voice Performance student Mr Angelo Muscat as well as Mr Simon Schembri Manager (Community and Outreach Youth Work Services) from the National Youth Agency.

Hosted by the Heist-op-den-Berg Municipality in Belgium, the Maltese delegation joined 11 other european organisations involved in EASYTowns II project to share the various cultural and artist initiatives and how these led to the active involvement of the young people in their respective municipalities and/or organisations.

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ’s involvement was two-fold, present IdeaArti, one of the empowerment projects in collaboration with MAV College and network with the various organisation on future collaborations. During the presentation, MAVC presented its work during the Easy Town’s programme, with the highlight being an overview of the first Maltese opera film ‘Blat: The Island Fortress with an aria performed live by the Angelo Muscat.

The initiatives presented by the partners varied from activities aimed at reducing emissions to music festivals to library activities, art community exhibitions and much more. The variety of projects highlighted the diverse ways how young people could be engaged in their locality. The overarching theme in all the projects was the emphasis on connecting with young people and involving them throughout the process.

The visit ended at the Municipality of to Heist-op-den-Berg, where the coordinator of Easy Town 2 Ms Bernardette De Cat, reflected on the need to continue working on the EU project with an outward view for cooperation and peace.
