The course META LEARNING AND THINKING SKILLS residential course which took place in Gozo has been a success. The participants have been embedded into the necessary processes for learning. Different frameworks have been provided for thinking such as the Bloom’s taxonomy, structured thinking of De Bono, critical thinking, growth mindset, philosophy, meta-learning and other major thinking frames.
The participants (Belgian and local Teachers) ended the week’s coursework taking place in Gozo by focusing on creating an own school action plan. This way, participants were able to transfer the knowledge gained to their own school context.
Five Teachers from Mikiel Anton Vassalli Malta School of Art, Malta School of Drama and Dance and the Gozo School of Visual and Performing Art; were amongst the participants as well as the Head of Gozo College Xewkija Primary School and Assistant Head of Gozo College Gharb Primary.
“In our evolving world, the ability to think, is fast becoming a priority than any fixed set of skills or knowledge. This is especially evident in the education sector where we need problem solvers, decision makers and innovators. And to produce such, we need new ways to teach and learn. We need to prepare our children for their future, not for our past” said the Head of College Network Victor Galea.
Participants were able to perform a School Visit in Gozo as part of their training. This thanks to the cooperation between Mikiel Anton Vassalli College and the Bishop Conservatory School in Victoria.
This course was possible due to a partnership agreement between Eekhout Academy (Belgium) and Mikiel Anton Vassalli College.
