“In visual Arts, colour theory is a language for communication and a collection of rules that has a practical guidelines that artists use when mixing and combining colours together” told Ms Kamy Aquilina Art Educator at Mikiel Anton Vassalli College Malta School of Art.
“Following the study unit ‘Responding to Colours I’ at MQF level 1, young art students at this specialized school are learning and exploring primary, secondary and tertiary colour schemes; warm and cool colors; and complementary colours.”
Besides the colour schemes, students are learning other elements of art such as space, shape and form. Inspired by the work of acclaimed contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama together with Complementary colours, students experimented on how to use colours in space to create an installation art to brighten up the foyer of the office of the Head of the College Network of the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, in Hamrun, Malta.
“It was not only a surprise to find a colorful office’s façade and foyer, but I praise such initiatives where educators show their creativity in putting learning into context”, concluded Victor Galea Head the College Network.
