A delightful group of students from Saint Thomas More College, Zejtun primary, enthusiastically participated in sculpture workshops on 8th May at the MAVC School of Art. The central theme, “Creatures,” ignited their imaginations to design unique three-dimensional forms.
The workshops offered a rich and diverse artistic experience. In two captivating clay workshops – led by SoA Educator Ms Daniela Guevska and SOA Alumni Ms Laurette Tong , students explored the pinch pot technique and cleverly transformed these basic shapes into imaginative beings inspired by the theme. Two further workshops focused on constructing three-dimensional creatures, resourcefully combining recycled materials led by Soa Educators Jesmond Vassallo and Mr Matthew Pandolfino, respectively. Another workshop focusing on digital sculpture led by Ms Glorian Sammut and Mr Roderick Camilleri, also drawing inspiration from the DigiTech Methods Erasmus project, guided students in bringing their creature concepts to life digitally using an open-source website and various modelling tools.
These hands-on workshops were a resounding success, leaving the young artists from Saint Thomas More College with broad smiles and a host of newly discovered creative possibilities, all thanks to the skill and direction of the MAVC School of Art’s dedicated teachers.
