As preparations intensify for L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT – Stories from the Grand Harbour, the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (MAVC) proudly highlights the participation of international students who have been actively engaged in a series of masterclasses forming part of the preparations for this upcoming live multidisciplinary production.
Bringing together learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, the project is a powerful example of how the arts transcend language barriers. Through music, movement, drama and visual expression, students have found a shared creative space where communication goes beyond words, fostering collaboration, confidence and a true sense of belonging.
The inclusion of learners from the International Learners’ Directorate reflects MAVC’s ongoing commitment to building an educational environment where every student feels valued and empowered. By integrating these learners into such a large-scale production, the College not only enriches the artistic process but also reinforces the importance of inclusion as a lived experience within the arts.
The response from the students has been overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed excitement at being part of such an ambitious and meaningful project, while others highlighted how welcomed and included they felt throughout the process.
“I cannot wait to be on stage,” shared Lilia Stakhurlova, capturing the enthusiasm felt across the group. Similarly, Marta Musienko noted, “I am looking forward for it to come together,” reflecting the anticipation as the production moves closer to performance.
Their voices echo a shared sentiment: that L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT is not just a performance, but a journey – one that brings people together, celebrates diversity, and showcases the unifying power of the arts.
L-Aħħar Bastiment – Stories from the Grand Harbour will be staged on Saturday 9 May 2026 at St. Agatha Auditorium, Rabat.
