About MAVC

Welcome to the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (MAVC), a vibrant home for Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) education in Malta and Gozo. Established on 19 November 2018 and named after the father of the Maltese language, the College brings together people of all ages who wish to discover, develop, and celebrate their artistic potential.

MAVC today is a dynamic network of four specialised VPA schools:

Malta School of Music

Malta School of Art

Malta School of Drama & Dance

Gozo Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) School

Across these schools, we offer a welcoming learning environment where creativity thrives and learners are supported to grow at their own pace.

All study programmes delivered by MAVC schools are formal educational accredited courses, recognised by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA). Our schools offer programmes from MQF Level 1 up to MQF Level 5 (Higher Diploma), operating under MFHEA-approved quality assurance standards. This ensures that our learners receive high-quality, nationally recognised arts education that supports both professional/career and personal development.

MAVC also houses the Department for Multidisciplinary Art Studies, through which the College is committed to producing an annual live professional multidisciplinary arts production. This flagship event brings together the talents of students and educators from Drama, Music, Visual Arts, and Dance, offering a unique creative platform that showcases the power of collaboration across the arts together with established artists and performers both locally and from abroad.

At MAVC, we believe in the transformative role of culture and creativity. As part of Malta’s growing cultural and creative industries -a sector contributing significantly to national life and economic wellbeing – we strive to nurture talent, inspire curiosity, and support our learners in becoming confident contributors to Malta’s artistic future.

We look forward to welcoming you into our creative community.
