Behind the Vision: Victor Galea and Reuben Pace Steer L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT – Stories from the Grand Harbour

As Mikiel Anton Vassalli College prepares to present its upcoming live production L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT – Stories from the Grand Harbour, the College proudly highlights two key artistic forces shaping this ambitious multidisciplinary work: Executive Producer Mr Victor Galea and Composer and Concept Creator Mro. Reuben Pace.

Mr Victor Galea, Head of the College Network at Mikiel Anton Vassalli College, serves as the Executive Producer of L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT. A visionary leader and a driving force behind the College’s continued growth, Mr Galea has been instrumental in fostering a culture where artistic excellence, collaboration, and student opportunity go hand in hand.
Through his unwavering commitment to the arts and education, he continues to open doors for emerging talent while nurturing a vibrant, forward-looking creative environment. His leadership and belief in large-scale, professionally driven student experiences remain central to MAVC’s mission and identity.

At the heart of the production lies the original concept and musical vision of Mro. Reuben Pace, the Composer and Production Manager of L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT. Drawing inspiration from Malta’s Grand Harbour as a site of memory, resilience, loss, and survival, Pace transforms fragments of untold human histories into a powerful contemporary musical language.
Through sound, silence, and movement, his work gives voice to stories shaped by historical fractures, inviting audiences to reflect on the harbour not just as a place, but as a living vessel of collective memory.
