Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (MAVC) was awarded an European Funded Erasmus+ project “DigiTech Methods” by the National Agency (EUPA). The general aim of this 2-year educational project is to familiarize the teachers and administrators of both local and partner schools (Greece and Turkey) on the use of latest Digital technologies with a focus on visual art education as well as innovative teaching methods by developing 3 training modules.
Art educators from the MAVC, Malta School of Art enjoyed a highly productive and rewarding training programme on the week starting 17th February 2025 at the Dimotiko Scholeio Plateos Imathias (Greece), proved to be a resounding success.
This training session, hosted by the School (Dimotiko Scholeio Plateos Imathias) in Greece, welcomed the Maltese partners from the Mikiel Anton Vassalli as well as the Turkish partners from TurkanDereli Illkokulu School, also represented by their educators. All participating educators had the opportunity to learn from and experiment with innovative techniques and processes integrating new technologies in education, presented by key speakers and practitioners from Greece.
Head of College Network Mr Victor Galea said that “This training is very much in line with the ambitions and targets of the Malta New Education Strategy 2024-30. This strategy places significant emphasis on the integration of digital tools to enhance the educational experience. This commitment is further detailed in the accompanying Digital Education Strategy 2024-2030, which outlines specific measures to embed digital competencies across all levels of education”.
The training covered the application of diverse software programs, including AI applications and open-source platforms, and importantly, focused on pedagogical methods and techniques to effectively integrate these digital tools into classroom lessons.
