On May 16th, 2025, the Erasmus+ project DigiTech Methods was highlighted on the TVM program Ghaddi S’hawn, hosted by Ms. Antonella Vassallo. Representing the initiative, Mr. Roderick Camilleri, Head of the Malta School of Art, and Ms. Leanne Lewis, Educator, discussed the project’s objectives and outcomes. The initiative is coordinated by Mikiel Anton Vassalli College and funded by the European Union.
DigiTech Methods is a cross-cultural collaboration between Malta, Greece, and Turkey, aimed at enhancing digital skills in visual arts education. The project delivered three comprehensive training modules that supported the professional development of educators through innovative, practice-based learning experiences.
The first module, co-developed by the Malta School of Art and the Directorate for Digital Literacy and Transversal Skills (DLTTS), introduced a pioneering educational program that integrated visual arts with digital proficiency. This module included a week-long series of workshops hosted in Malta, providing participating educators from all three partner countries with hands-on training in digital tools relevant to artistic practice.
The second training session took place in Greece and was hosted by Dimotiko Scholeio Plateos Imathias. This module focused on the exploration of various software applications, including AI tools and open-source platforms. Maltese and Turkish educators were introduced to pedagogical strategies aimed at effectively integrating these digital resources into classroom settings, fostering more dynamic and interactive learning environments.
The final module was conducted in Turkey under the theme Digital Citizenship and Leadership in Education. This session aimed to equip educators—four from Malta, three from Greece, and their Turkish counterparts—with the necessary skills and knowledge to promote responsible digital practices and demonstrate effective digital leadership. The training placed particular emphasis on the role of digital competence within the field of education, highlighting its growing importance in contemporary teaching and learning.
Overall, DigiTech Methods showcases the value of transnational collaboration in addressing the evolving needs of 21st-century educators, while promoting innovation, cultural exchange and educational development within the field of technology.
