The National Art Education Conference “Shaping the Future”, organised by Arts Council Malta, was held on 30th October at the MCAST Paola Campus, bringing together educators, artists, and institutions to reflect on and imagine the future of visual and performing arts education in Malta and Gozo.
Representing the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (MAVC), Mr Victor Galea, Head of College Network, presented a position paper outlining key priorities for strengthening arts education. He highlighted the need for better structures, policies, and investment to support the specialised nature of arts training in Malta.
Mr Galea emphasised MAVC’s vital role as the bridge between secondary and tertiary arts education and reaffirmed the College’s commitment to excellence, accessibility, collaboration, and innovation. He also called for a unified and forward-looking approach that recognises the arts as a central pillar of Malta’s cultural and educational landscape.
