Shaping the Harbour’s Vision: Rodrick Camilleri Leads the Visual World of L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT – Stories from the Grand Harbour

L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT: Stories from the Grand Harbour is a new multidisciplinary live production by Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (MAVC), conceived as a professional artistic triptych that brings together a short musical, a short play with music, and a contemporary dance work.

We are proud to introduce Rodrick Camilleri as the Head of Visuals. While many know him as the Head of the MAVC Malta School of Art, in this production he takes on a vital creative role, shaping the aesthetic soul of the entire project.

Rodrick’s vision for L-AĦĦAR BASTIMENT – Stories from the Grand Hrbour, goes far beyond simple design. He has crafted a visual language rooted in the textures and atmosphere of the Grand Harbour, using layered blues and weathered surfaces to evoke stories of time, labour, and heritage. By bridging the worlds of institutional leadership and artistic creation, he offers learners of visual arts as well as the production team with a clear conceptual compass that guides the visual identity of the performance from start to finish.

His work on the visual poster is just the beginning. Under his direction, the production becomes a living canvas where history meets contemporary expression—inviting audiences to rediscover Malta’s maritime identity through a fresh and compelling artistic lens. We are honoured to have his expertise leading the visual narrative of this remarkable journey.
