Mikiel Anton Vassalli College was recently invited to appear on TVM’s program ‘Għaddi S’hawn’, where Mr. Victor Galea, Head of College Network, and Mr. Emanuel Cassar, Drama Educator, provided an exclusive update on the highly anticipated opera TRAB – The Rest is Dust.
The Opera ‘TRAB : The Rest is Dust’ is a contemporary Opera in Maltese (with English subtitles) about contemporary issues such as xenophobia, homophobia, the environment, greed and the lust for power.
The Cast is made up of a mixture of Maltese and International Artists such as the British Stage Director Michael Moxham, 4 internationally established Opera Singers from Germany, Romania, France and UK and an entire orchestra from Poland the Maxime Orchestra under the Direction of Andrzey Mandryka. The Maltese Opera Singers Clare Ghigo, Charles Vincenti and Louis Andrew Cassar will also be gracing the stage
These professional artists will be joining up with selected students from all MAVC Schools to put up this production which is of international level.
During the TV programme, the guests explained how students from the MAVC, Malta School of Art are preparing the visuals, designs and projections. Other students from the MAVC, Malta School of Drama & Dance are involved in the acting and dance while students from the MAVC Malta School of Music will be joining the orchestra and the choir. Mr Cassar also referred to the number of masterclasses being offered.
Set to be premiered on Friday 25th April 2025 at 19.30hrs at the St Agatha Auditorium (Rabat) should be another unforgettable evening filled with talent, passion, and the magic of Opera (dancing, acting, singing, orchestral music, lighting, costume, video projection, music and visuals together with the stage set).
