Over the Wall at MAVC Malta School of Drama & Dance

As their end of first term performance, MQF level 3 students led by Ms. Marvic Doughty decided to perform the play “Over the Wall” by James Saunders. 

 
The play falls under the genre of Theatre of the Absurd , therefore the students were introduced to a genre which they had never performed before.  “Over the Wall“, first printed in 1977,  includes a Narrator who tells the story , and the islanders to act it out, of an island with a wall running across it.  Who built it, why it was built, or what lies behind it nobody knows or cares – nobody, that is, except one man.  

Any number of characters can play and hence the narration was shared out.  It was a good piece for all the students to have equal parts and be able to narrate and play a character as well.  The students really enjoyed it and also gave their ideas at  stage plotting.   

The students led by their educator worked on it for 2 months during their bi -weekly sessions.
