MAVC School of Art CoPE-session March 2026

On the 23rd and 24th of March a Personal Development (PD) session was hosted at MAVC Malta School of Art. The atmosphere was collaborative and focused, with participants engaging in shaping our teaching and learning framework. By the end, everyone was keen to move forward together on attendance, feedback, evaluation, and beyond.

Several core areas were reviewed: the overview and purpose of each academic route, unit design and development, assessment practices, and the essential work of feedback and evaluation. We looked at how learning outcomes are formulated and how they guide teaching, learning, and assessment, while exploring prospects for improvements across the programmes.

On the 23rd of March the day began an introduction by Mr. Roderick Camilleri, Head of School, who outlined Courses and the General Academic Programme, areas for improvement, and the structure of awards and certificates. After a short break, Deputy Head, Ms Marthese Baldacchino, gave a short talk on assessment and discussed areas for consolidation like attendance, and health and safety. The evening concluded with a collaborative review of basic units through group work, setting the stage for deeper analysis the next day.

On the 24th of March focus groups were formed on module analysis, covering levels 1–2 and levels 3–5 to ensure a comprehensive view across the programme. After a mid-session break, we unpacked the outcomes of the reviews and culminated in a concluding discussion. Throughout, staff contributed insights that reinforced a shared direction and confirmed our unified approach to future developments.

This CoPe-session successfully solidified a common understanding among staff about our modules, units, and assessment practices. With a clear agreement on attendance, feedback, and evaluation standards, we move forward confidently, ensuring cohesive implementation across all levels of teaching and learning.
